What is turn pumping?

When you know how to load turns vertically, you’re ready to pump turns horizontally.

First, you have to believe that every turn is a sideways hole.

The faster you ride, the truer this is. Hauling butt through a steep berm is the most obvious example, but this principle also applies to flat turns.

The basic notion of turn pumping is the same as bump pumping.

Put simply:

Get heavy into the beginning of the turn. In skiing they call this early pressure. This generates pressure and propulsion.

Get light out of the end of the turn. This releases the pressure into the new direction.

In order you pump a turn, you need to be carving rather than steering.
